PAYE Online Filing Guide

Don't let Fagin rob you blind!!!

The Inland Revenue are bribing small employers to the tune of £825 over the next five years to use their PAYE online filing system. See here for the details.

Make sure you don't miss out on this giveaway!!!

We had assumed that all accountants would be providing this service free of charge to their clients as it involves them in virtually no extra effort over the current systems. We have just learned that some accountants want a slice of this government largess for themselves including, we are ashamed to say, our own recommended accountant.

In our opinion these charges are completely unjustified.

This guide will show you how to file online, get your £825, and put two fingers up to greedy accountants who have the "you're getting a freebie so I wany my cut" mentality. Believe us - it's not hard and certainly not worth the £100+ we've seen mentioned.

Some accountants may not offer the service others may only announce their charges when they issue the company year end forms for signing leaving their clients very little time to complete the process themselves as the Inland Revenue website is a prime example of poor design and difficult navigation.

The first stage in the process is to register your company for online filing. The irony of this whole business is that it is quite possible you will need to do this even if your accountant charges for online filing as you have to supply their agent reference. As this can also be done by post using form FBI2 maybe you wouldn't. If you care to take a look at this form you will see that gathering the details needed for registration of your company by the accountant is hardly an arduous process as they can be copied directly from your file.

Don't be put off by the length of this guide - the whole process should take less than 30 minutes - once you have got into the system it is fairly intuitive - you probably only need our guide if you get stuck.

We recommend that you register immediately.
